Do you recall the moment when you decided to be a musician?

Well, I’ve always been very interested in music. My dad was the one who taught me my first chords on acoustic guitar. I made it very clear to him that I really wanted to learn! I guess I have had a dream of being a musician from my early teenage years.

I was 8 years old when my dad taught me those first chords, and from that point on I started to study the guitar by myself, every day, at home. A few years later I also took a few guitar lessons, after contacting some private teachers from my city.

I don’t know, I never really wanted to be the best, it's just I’ve always spent so much time playing because I love to play. I really love to play. This was my real incentive, and it contributed to my learning, more and more. I guess you could say things always came very naturally for me, because the love to play was my drive.

What's the metal scene like in Brazil nowadays? Did bands like Sepultura influence you at all?

We have a real good metal scene here. It may not be the strongest aspect of our culture, but you see a lot of great bands, full of personality. My main guitar school was Rock and Roll in general. So eventually, of course, bands like Sepultura and Angra were part of it.

I had the honor to have Felipe Andreoli (Angra bass player) as a special guest on my first EP (Lari Basilio, 2012), on the track called Gold. He’s such a lovely guy, and an incredible musician. I’m a huge fan. I've also met Andreas Kisser from Sepultura, but no collaboration there, yet!

How did you discover Elektron?

I discovered Elektron through YouTube and loved the machines that I saw. When I heard you guys were releasing a guitar pedal I got super curious and, once I got my hands on it, the Analog Drive surprised me with all its qualities.

What's your favorite guitar?

It’s a Suhr Classic T Antique at this point in time. It’s really comfortable, has an amazing neck and such a great tone. I’m totally in love with it.

How about your new Analog Drive?

Oh, this pedal is just amazing. One of the best drives I’ve ever played in my life. It’s so warm and full of definition. The Mid Freq is simply awesome. It gives me so many tonal possibilities.

The Analog Drive has been on my pedalboard since it arrived, and I have no plans to take it off of there any time soon. I’m very, very impressed.

What's your answer to your own question: Do You Need Words?

I love that question, and my answer is simply no! Why would I need words when my guitar can speak for me?

Which one of the eight effects circuits do you prefer using?

I've been using a lot of the High Gain circuit recently. What a tone! I totally love it! I tonally love it!

Every moment of creation is special. Each time I realize that I'm able to create something new, something original that triggers a whole different feeling than anything I've previously experienced, that is just beautiful!

I deeply appreciate those moments. Each new composition brings a different experience for me and also, hopefully, for the listener!
