Jogging House aims straight for the heart. Vocal samples drenched in effects combined with slow beats convey a kind of romantic and almost esoteric atmosphere. He is currently working on his next release from which two tracks, »Woman« and »I Might Love You«, already have been uploaded to SoundCloud.
My tunes are heavily inspired by 80s pop music and like most songs of that genre, they are more or less focused on love. It's the one topic everyone can relate to.
I'm not trying to send a specific or personal message, but rather create an atmosphere that feels comfortable. Basically, I want people to slow down and just feel good about themselves for a moment.
I'm all about the vocals. They are what keep me going. I love how they change their meaning over time and how differently they can be perceived. They are from all over the internet. But I think telling the exact sources wouldn't be such a good idea.
Thanks. Actually, I don't really mix in a traditional way. All sounds are recorded with effects, so I have to in/decrease certain frequencies before recording. I mostly work with headphones on. That way it's easier to hear how the feedback of the delay and reverb affects the other sounds.
When I add a new loop, I spend quite some time listening to it. If it starts to annoy me after a few minutes, I simply record it with other settings. The rest is done with the filters and EQs of the Octatrack - and a classic signal chain on the main mix after everything has been recorded with the computer.
I have two Octatracks. They are the center of my setup. I use one as my DAW and the other one as a drum machine. At first I get a basic beat going and then start to sample my synths with the OP-1 from Teenage Engineering. When I have enough sounds, and vocal samples, that I like, I cut them up and play them through my FX pedals and try to come up with loops to record with the OT - no MIDI, just jamming. Then I add loop after loop until all 8 tracks are used. After this I finish the beat, correct the timing of the recorded loops if needed and program variations as well as an arrangement. Once that is done, I just record the whole thing. That's it. Be sure to check out Jogging House's two pay-what-you-like EPs at Bandcamp.
