Frequently Asked Questions
What is the warranty of the Monomachine?
What are the differences between the MKI and MKII Monomachine models?
Design:
The height of the Monomachine MKII is 63mm including rubber feet and encoders.
The height of the Monomachine MKI is 77mm including rubber feet and encoders.
Power supply:
A switched mode power supply for the MKII units, which allows the units to be used all over the globe without the need of voltage converters.
MKI units use an AC power supply. The two power supply types are not compatible.
S/N Ratio and outputs:
The S/N ratio of the Monomachine MKII is 100dB. The outputs are impedance balanced.
The S/N ratio of the Monomachine MKI is 91dB. The outputs are unbalanced.
User waveforms:
The Monomachine MKII has the capability of hosting user waveforms.
Is it possible to upgrade a MKI unit to a MKII one?
No. The internals differ too much.
Where can I find the latest Monomachine OS?
It’s found in the Downloads section.
Is the latest Monomachine OS compatible with my old Monomachine?
Yes. The latest OS works on all Monomachine variants. Older OS's may only work on older variants.
How do I upgrade the OS of my Monomachine?
We recommend you to download and install our free SysEx-program C6, found in the Downloads section. The upgrade process is described in the manual, also downloadable in the Downloads section, on page 104.
Do you still sell the Monomachine version with the keyboard?
No. The Monomachine equipped with a keyboard, the Monomachine SFX-6, was made in a limited run of 500 units. It has been sold out for a long time.
Can I control the Monomachine SFX-60 MKI/MKII with a MIDI keyboard?
Certainly! Also, if the MIDI keyboard is equipped with a joystick it can provide the same functionality as the joystick found on the SFX-6. More info about this is found in the Monomachine manual, page 38.
Are the MKI and the MKII Monomachine power supplies compatible?
No. You can harm your unit if you use the wrong power supply.
What are the specifications for the MKII power supply?
The output specification of the MKII power supply is 6VDC, 3.5 A maximum, 43-60 Hz. The size of the output connector is 5.5x2.5 mm (DC plug, power at center). Input connector: IEC320-C8 (2 prong).
An equivalent PSU is an AC to DC adapter, outputs 6-7 VDC, at least 2 A, preferably 3 A, into a 5.5x2.5 mm circular plug with power (+) at centre. Do not use a 3 prong (safety grounded) adapter as this may seriously lower the audio quality.
What are the specifications for the MKI power supply?
Please note that the MKI power supply is an AC/AC adapter.
The output specification of the MKI power supply is: 6 VAC, 2.5 A, 50/60 Hz. The size of the output connector is 5.5x2.5 mm. Since it isn’t a switched mode PSU, it needs to be able to handle the voltage in your country.
Where can I get hold of a MKI power supply?
Please contact us through the Elektron Support form. Note that you need to be logged in to your Customer Zone account to do so.
What type of screws is used for the rack mount kit?

How do I make a Monomachine SFX-60 MKII compatible waveform?
The bit rate and frequency of the audio file you want to use when making a waveform don’t matter. Supported formats are wav and aiff. The important thing is that you extract one period from it. After extracting the period, you need to convert the audio file to a DigiPRO syx file. For this task you can use our free C6 program, which you can download in the Downloads section.
How do I send waveforms from a computer to the Monomachine SFX-60 MKII?
We recommend you to download and install our free SysEx-program C6, found in the Downloads section. Then read the step by step waveform transfer description in the manual, page 99f.
